His first major publication, Indian Currency and Finance, analyses and describes the currency problems of an open, developing country maintaining a gold exchange standard. His last major professional activity, the planning for postwar reconstruction and development, established the initial postwar international economic order represented by the Bretton Woods agreement and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.</p>
