Alluding to the transformative nature of the corset, Savannah Schroll Guz portrays the damaging effects of a widely popular fashion staple on the female body. The Escape Artist explores the permanent body alterations caused by this Houdini-era contraption, and points to women’s eventual liberation from the corset's constriction through post-WWI fashion changes.
