Curated by CMU architecture studio professor, Hal Hayes, AIA, [in]COMPLETION : [in]TRANSITION is a study of the redevelopment of Cuba's landmark national art schools. In spring 2016, twelve students accompanied professor Hayes to visit Havana, Cuba and examine the current state of Instituto Superior de Arte, Cuba's National Art School. In the 1960s, the Art School was left in various stages of abandonment as the Cuban Government decomissioned the project while only partially complete.

Nine CMU architecture students worked with US and Cuban artists, musicians, and drama designers to preserve the character of Cuba’s National Schools of Art while re-envisioning this jewel of the Revolution as a modern arts university.
