This is Volume One of a two volume report by students in urban design and public policy at Carnegie Mellon University.
Nineteen students, drawn from the Masters of Sustainable Development and the Master of Science in Public Policy programs at the H. John Heinz ID School of Public Policy, and from the Bachelor of Architecture program in the Department of Architecture, combined to form a two-semester urban laboratory, 1996/7.
Formed to simulate interdisciplinary professional practice, the subject of this year’s urban laboratory is the East Liberty community in the City of Pittsburgh.
