Abstract: "We describe two systems we have developed using the Soar architecture: CPD-Soar is a system for the design of distillation-based separation systems and Interval-Soar is a system that can learn the intersection point of two arbitrary functions whose forms are unknown to it. We discuss the performance of both systems and indicate how the functionality of a system like Interval-Soar could be used to further improve the performance of a system such as CPD-Soar whose domain is highly quantitative."
