My name is Paul S. Goodman. I am a professor at the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie-Mellon university. Over the last 15 years I have been involved in research and consulting concerning the utilization of human resources in organization which includes the nature of labor-management relationships. My current work includes a national study on productivity, safety, and absenteeism in the coal industry, the effectiveness of QC circle programs, the impact of robots on the work force, and the design and persistence of alternative forms of work organization. All these activities are part of a Human Resources Research Program at Carnegie-Mellon University.
