Learn more about a collaborative project to digitize periodicals published in Pittsburgh’s Jewish community from 1895-2010. Content is made visible by allowing major search engines to crawl the collections. Ancestry.com and major harvesting services also link to the collection, which is heavily used by genealogists and researchers interested in Jewish history in the Pittsburgh community. The session will cover Carnegie Mellon’s contribution to a project that serves a community of users outside of its own and the challenges and opportunities encountered.
