Before beginning it is useful to know the context in which the Rushton project developed. Experiments in new forms of work organization have proliferated in the United States since 1970. These have taken many different forms and their impact on work, the work environment, worker attitudes, organizational effectiveness, and labor-management relations is potentially very significant. Rushton is one of these experiments.
