The default treatment, chemotherapy, leads to 12% survival rate in metastatic CRC patients, highlighting the importance of finding innovative therapies that prioritize patient well-being by minimizing side effects. Herbal-medicine is emerging as a promising alternative for high-specificity cancer treatments. Salvia officinalis (sage) specifically, exhibits anti-oxidative and -proliferative activity in liver and breast cancers, as well as non-metastatic CRC. This paper proposes sage treatment of metastatic CRC cells as a selective and target-specific cancer therapy with minimum side effects on normal (non-cancerous) cells.
