The alternative splicing of the YME RNA in the two breast cancer cell lines, MCF7 and MDAMB-231 as well as PC3 and HEK293 is being assessed.  MCF7 is a hormone responsive, non-invasive breast cancer cell line while MDAMB-231 is a triple negative, invasive cell line. PC3 is a human prostate cancer cell line while HEK293 cells are immortalized human embryonic kidney cells (that are non-cancerous). The alternative splicing analysis proved the existence of 3 exons and 2 introns.
After computational analysis and sequence alignment, YME is proved to be a long non-coding RNA. After qPCR analysis, it was proven that the YME RNA is expressed more in the MCF7 cell line, compared to MDA-MB231 and is overall expressed more in cancerous cell lines than non-cancerous.
