Our goal is to investigate whether soybean food products contain genetic modifications. We hypothesize that organic products will not contain modifications while others would have modifications. We investigate the presence of inserted genes by conducting different types of PCR to detect whether known gene insertions or promoters associated with genetic modifications are present. We found that genetic modification were detected in both organic and unlabelled food products, which implies that labels may not accurately reflect whether a product is genetically modified.
