From megatrends to local action - directions in scholarly communication and research evaluation

A keynote address to an Elsevier-sponsored conference. I explore driving forces (such as Brexit, COVID-19, economic pressures) on the scholarly communication ecosystem. I couple this review with a collation of megatrends (mobility, the future of cities, climate change) and develop a model that identifies opportunities for publishers, researchers, universities, funders and libraries.
