Warlocks & Warheads: American Horror Story as Post-American Gothic is a conference paper presented at the Annual Popular Culture Association Meeting in New York City on April 17, 2019. This paper argues that the FOX television series, American Horror Story, operates in the hybrid mode of Gothic Science Fiction by mixing traditional and contemporary Gothic elements with urban legends and science fiction to explore the fears and anxieties of middle class America in an increasingly post-American world.
