The U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools is a recognition for schools that  are energy efficient, provide healthy indoor environment and, include sustainability  subjects in their curriculums. Cognitive, social, and health benefits among students are  improved and energy saving costs can be directed towards advancement in education.

Currently, the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools provides a very useful  list of websites and resources for becoming more energy efficient. However, there is no  central, easy-to-access guide to help schools with their goals of becoming U.S.  Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools. The enclosed synthesis maps out the energy efficiency steps taken by North-East’s existing ED-Green Ribbon Schools, to provide an effective roadmap to improve your school’s energy efficiency.

Therefore, the best practices and recommendations in the Roadmap aim to assist the  future schools across America that are interested in becoming energy efficiency endeavors.
